Meet the Artist: Antonio Ceron

Artist, Designer, and Educator

Born in 1955 in Mexico City, Antonio Cerón Uribe is a visual artist whose creative journey has gracefully crossed the worlds of painting, sculpture, and drawing. From a young age, his artistic curiosity also led him toward music, theater, and poetry — disciplines that continue to inspire his visual expression.

He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and pursued graduate studies in Visual Arts. His academic formation expanded through a Diploma in Social Communication and Corporate Image at UNAM’s Faculty of Political and Social Sciences.

Throughout his career, Antonio has blended art, design, and education. He worked as a graphic designer at Televisa’s Art Department, produced audiovisual programs for UNAM’s Faculty of Chemistry, and later founded and led the Graphic Design Section within that same faculty. His editorial work includes designing and editing several university publications such as UNAM-SI, Los Incorporados, and Gaceta Universidad Latina.

As an educator, Antonio has taught courses and workshops in graphic design, visual communication, and television production at the National School of Visual Arts, where he also participated as a juror in academic and artistic competitions.

His creative talent has been recognized with numerous awards — including First Prize in Sculpture at the Televisa Talent Competition (1979), and First Prize in Poetry at the 75th Anniversary of the Faculty of Chemistry (1991). His designs have been featured in commemorative coins, posters, and institutional logos for the UNAM community. In 1998, his monumental sculpture Tríptico del Tiempo was donated to the Faculty of Chemistry as a lasting testament to his artistic legacy.

Through his art, Antonio Cerón Uribe continues to explore the harmony between form, idea, and emotion, inviting the viewer to pause and appreciate the beauty and thought within each of his creations.
